India: ...in spite of the government

A nice story in New York times about India’s development and role of government/bureaucracy. Another classic example of how economy grows when government sleeps (at least in India).

Excerpt from story:

"If China’s growth has been led by the state, India’s growth is often impeded by the state. China’s authoritarian leaders have built world-class infrastructure; India’s infrastructure and bureaucracy are both considered woefully outdated.”

"In India, it is not because of the government, it is in spite of the government.”

Nothing new in this story for people with first hand experience of places like Gurgaon but still... its always nice to refresh the truth :)
