Sometimes people don't understand what's going on, but they pretend that they know everything. In such cases, sometimes they smile with confidence, or they use complicated words because they don't know what they are talking about! Not everyone can be an expert in everything... but some people try to become a fake expert in all kind of discussions. It is better to play dumb than to be a phony expert. Saying 'I don't know' is not always a weakness, and there is no such thing as a silly question.
